JUST WORDS OF MINE

In his later years, my father, like his father before him, built wooden boats. He built a large shed and equipped it with the tools he needed and a wood stove. He would spend many hours of many days in there cutting, chiseling, planing, and sanding pieces of wood that would eventually become part of a finished boat. There were many times when his day was spent dismantling what had been accomplished the previous day because something did not fit just right.

In the end a boat was built. The shed doors were opened and the boat moved out for everyone to see and to make room for another. I believe he found great pleasure in knowing he had created something that would otherwise have never existed and to know it would be drifting along somewhere long after he was gone. I once heard him say "It should keep somebody afloat."

This is my shed. Since I am unable to match the skills of his grade six education, I am left to dabble with words. If you do like something you read, feel free to share a link to this page.
